Scotland's employment levels at highest since 1992

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) say 2,585,000 people over 16 are now employed in Scotland, (ONS) covering the period January to March 2014.

The Scottish unemployment rate is 6.4 per cent, which is below the average of 6.8 per cent for the whole of the UK.

The labour market statistics also show employment in Scotland has increased by 29,000 over the three months January to March 2014. The number of those in employment in Scotland now stands at 2,585,000.

For the 3 months of 2014 Jobs per Capita vary considerably across Scottish Cities with Aberdeen at 53  (6th Across the UK), Edinburgh 29 , Glasgow 23 JPC and Dundee 10.  Also good news for Women as Scotland has one of the highest rates for Female Employment acros Europe.
